An epic tale of the molding of a man who would live to conquer much of the known world, this film embodies the scholarly efforts of centuries of historical findings and theories and presents a breathtaking look at the life and times of Temudgin, later to be known to the world as Ghengis Kahn. From a dismal childhood of slavery to unimaginable glory as the warrior statesman who unified the Mongol hordes. Depicted here is a great man, brave and fearless, who survived the cruelest of setbacks only to grow stronger each time.
In addition to some of the most stunningly profound, graphic battle scenes ever on the big screen, there persists a love story that underlies the make up of the man. His lifelong devotion to his loyal and most trusted partner, his wife Borte, transcends both time and circumstance. Expertly played by Khulan Chuluun, the strength of Borte is expertly displayed and her pivotal role in the history of the world well defined.
Filmed in the land of Genghis Khan, on the dramatic, unforgiving extremes of the Russian Steppes, this film will impress you on all levels. Acting, direction, set design, landscape, cinematic techniques, script, historical authenticity and music (composer:Tuomas Kantelinen). All are top-notch.
